Gloria O. Malphy, 82, of Elroy passed away Monday, April 13, 2015, at Heritage Manor in Elroy.
She was born July 16, 1932, to Clarence and Eda (Pearsall) Grilley on the Grilley Homestead in Hillsboro Township. She attended the Trippville School; Seventh Day Adventist Academy at Bethel, Wis.; Hylandale Academy in Hylandale, Wis.; and Church and Mission Work at Rhinelander, Wis.; and was a 1954 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where her grandfather, Abe Grilley, was president of the school board.
Gloria married Robert Williams on Jan. 24, 1957, in Deerton, Mich.; to them three children were born: Robert, Rodney and Randy Williams. She married Joseph T. Malphy on Dec. 9, 1964, in Caledonia, Minn., and they had one daughter, Kathy Lynne.
She worked at R.C. Allen and Admiral Corp. in Harvard, Ill.; Guardian Electric in Woodstock, Ill.; the Mauston Garment Factory in Mauston; and Heritage Manor and Edgewood Nursing Homes in Elroy.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Williams of Elroy, Randy Williams of Kendall and John (Bev) Malphy of Mindoro; a granddaughter, Jamie (Dan) Olson of Sparta; two great-grandchildren, Maverick and Miranda Olson; her brothers, Clarence and Jessie (Burdick) Grilley of Granite Falls, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Adolph Burdick of Elroy; a sister-in-law, Mary O’Connor of Elroy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Malphy; her son, Rodney Williams; her daughter, Kathy Malphy (Young) Peterson; a son-in-law, Martin Peterson; her brothers-in-law, Donald Malphy, Max Walker and Byron Lawrence; and her sisters-in-law, Madeline Walker, Patricia Arttus, Rita Lawrence and Rose Burdick.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy. Burial will be in Millards Prairie Cemetery in rural Elroy.
